Responsibilities:
o Assist in the management and operation of the orbiting satellites through the deployment of the MUOS ground system.
The system includes four ground station facilities positioned worldwide, each equipped with three freestanding antennas that act like cellphone switches, receiving radio calls relayed through the MUOS satellites Provide the user-entry and integrated ground segments for the system, which will replace the military's current narrowband tactical communications system.
Support warfighters worldwide on patrol in hostile environments, whether urban, canyon, mountains, or jungles - or even the Arctic Circle.
o Provide a familiar cellular phone-like service, allowing forces on the ground to communicate directly with others at higher levels of quality and much greater capacity than available through the current system.
o Maintain the current live system, but added new capabilities, enhancements and replaces end of life componentsCurrently, it is the largest program within SCIS.
Perform communication network requirements analysis, IP network system design, and troubleshooting Develop network solutions to meet customer expectations and technical performance while staying within schedule and cost constraints Perform functional analysis, performance analysis, detailed trade studies Support system integration and test (verification), validation and interface definition studies of the system Develop and evaluate systems, networks, and information systems to ensure designs meet applicable governmental security specifications May provide system accreditation/certification evaluation and test support to ensure all technical security features (e.
g.
, identification, authentication, access control, labeling, and auditing) of the system are considered and function properly Participate in Modeling and Simulation activities Research and analyze data, such as vendor products, COTS components, GFE/CFE, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application Provide leadership and/or direction to lower level employees Provide engineering support to proposals Guide the development and test teams on successful completion of network design implementation and verification Is creative and innovativerequiring advanced decision-making skills Recommend methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel (Team Lead) Use professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways
Qualifications:
o Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics fieldAlso requires 5
years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experienceAgile experience preferred.
Ability to Obtain Secret Clearance Excellent knowledge of current state-of-the art IP Networking techniques and technologies; able to apply these to solve new customer problems Excellent use and understanding of systems engineering and development lifecycle concepts and principles Excellent knowledge of other related communication network disciplines Proficiency with requirements management & network system modeling tools Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office applications Excellent written and verbal communications skills; effective in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions Working understanding of basic project leadership principles including SPI/CPI, Earned Value, Cost Account Management (CAM), and Statistical Process Controls Your Recruiter Still have questions?
