This role will be filled in a hybrid capacity, with collaboration taking place in one of our office locations in Columbus, OH, Scottsdale, AZ, or Des Moines, IA.
The Sr Engineer Guidewire PolicyCenter Software Engineer supports the Personal Lines PolicyCenter (Auto/Property/Umbrella) within Nationwide Technology.
The ideal candidate should meet or exceed the following requirements:
possess a passion for coding and learning new technologies that are prevalent in the current digital eco-system.
must exhibit the ability to quickly adapt to emerging technologies and tools.
must exhibit a strong work ethic and the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.
must exhibit thought leadership toward problem solving and deliver upon these findings.
Required technologies within this role are:
Guidewire (PolicyCenter), Gosu, Java, JavaScript, Relational/Non-Relational Databases, SQL.
Hands On experience with AWS, CI/CD Pipelines, Microservices, API/Apigee, KAFKA streaming, Splunk or an equivalent monitoring tool, Postman, XML or JSON, preferred.

Analyzes, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards and best practices.
Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
Uses DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.
Drives continuous improvement and learning through ongoing training, practice and innovation.
Manages project priorities, deadlines and deliverables proactively.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships:
Reports to a Technology Manager/Director.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education:
Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degree.
Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.
Experience:
Two or more years of analysis and technology experience.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
Proficiency in one or more programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript.
Knowledge of software development lifecycle.
Proven ability to tackle moderately sophisticated business and development problems.
Ability to thrive in a team environment.
Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
