9 Scottsdale, AZ Scottsdale, AZ Full-time Full-time $40,000 a year $40,000 a year POSITION DESCRIPTION The Health & Life Skills Coordinator is responsible for the planning, implementation, and facilitation of programs designed to promote healthy living and life skills to Club members.
Under the leadership of the Branch Director, the Health & Life Skills Coordinator provides a high-quality, comprehensive, safe, outcome-driven learning experience for Club members.
The primary focus of this position is to utilize the BGCS mission, vision, and values to set members up for success, and to provide leadership and guidance to members as it relates to the development of healthy habits and life skills.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, program development, delivery, and assessment, program area safety and cleanliness, budgetary management, building and maintaining tribal community relationships, volunteer supervision, and providing guidance to part-time staff as it pertains to program quality and safety.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Program Development & Implementation:
Incorporates the Club mission, BGCA core beliefs, core characteristics, youth development outcomes, core programs, and the youth development strategy into programs, services, and activities.
Manages, develops, and implements T.

S, Smart Moves, Meth SMART, and Circle of Life related services and activities.
Maintains accurate reports and provides information in a timely manner.
Documents attendance, outcome measurements, and participation of tribal and non-tribal youth.
Prepares all required reports for grant related programs to FirstPic, Inc.
and other funding sources.
Monitors, evaluates, and modifies program materials, identifying potential barriers and steps to address and overcome obstacles to attaining a successful program implementation.
Provides FirstPic, Inc.
pictures and new stories for newsletter and website on a quarterly basis.
Purchases supplies within the determined budget.
All purchases must be approved by Branch Director.
Communicates, as needed, with tribal leadership regarding the programs progress, including successes and challenges; works to build and grow program.
Meets with various prevention providers from tribal government on a regular basis.
Creates a dynamic, positive work environment for part-time staff.
Maintains close daily contact with indirect reports.
Provides coaching, training opportunities, redirection, and encouragement; helps develop skill set necessary for internal promotion.
Encourages positive relationships between staff, and Club members and their families.
Health & Safety:
Ensures program areas remain safe, clean, and organized.
Implements and ensures adherence to Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdales policies and procedures.
Demonstrates sound judgement and decision-making.
Acts quickly in emergency situations.
Maintains Club equipment and property to ensure they stay in good working order.
Uses positive guidance and discipline techniques to redirect member behavior issues.
Utilizes active supervision techniques when working with Club members.

Supports and mirrors the culture, mission, values, and core beliefs of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale.
Promotes an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces diversity.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS Required:
Minimum 2 years work experience in youth development or related field.
General understanding of alcohol/drug abuse prevention and volunteer service field.
Ability to multitask and adapt to Clubs changing needs.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal and cooperative working skills.
Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Suite and be comfortable adapting to new technology.
Ability to earn and maintain CPR and First Aide certifications.
Maintains a valid drivers license and meets eligibility requirements to drive Club vehicles.
Flawless ethics and integrity.
Safety oriented mindset.
Recommended:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university.
Direct youth programming experience.
Experience working in a non-profit setting.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
