This role will perform all duties as defined in the Sr Analyst, PC Actuarial Support role description. Prepares loss, expense, and premium data for actuarial pricing reviews, ratemaking, or reserving. Continues to learn more advanced programming methodologies and insurance concepts through reading, training sessions and work assignments. Other key responsibilities include:
Continues to develop knowledge of data sources and requirements.Manipulates data from an IBM System I DB2 database using SEQUEL and retrieves the data using VBA in Microsoft to develop knowledge of more advanced programming methodologies.
Conducts analyses that adhere to actuarial standards of practice: selects appropriate data sources and data types, and makes assumptions when data integrity is questionable.
Documents assumptions, sources, and considerations; organizes documents.
Notes unreasonable results/non-optimal solutions and assists in resolution.
Prepares internal memos, documents, and letters as needed. Communications are to be concise, logical, organized, and grammatically correct with the appropriate level of technical terms suitable to the audience.
Develops personal work schedule to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks; coordinates with others as needed.
Participates in Peer Tech Reviews.
Required Skills:
Bachelors degree in actuarial science, mathematics, computer information systems, statistics, economics or related field with a strong quantitative orientation.
Knowledge of advanced programming concepts, basic actuarial methods/concepts, insurance terminology and product familiarity.
Three years related experience as a programmer, preferably in an actuarial or statistical support role. This is a non-exam taking position.
Demonstrated work product accuracy.
Effective oral/written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to comprehend actuarial concepts and other advanced programming concepts
Demonstrated ability to think logically and perform actuarial methods in a timely manner
Ability to operate personal computer and related spreadsheet and database software including Microsoft Office, VBA and SQL. Knowledge of SQL Server or SAS is a plus.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE:: Bachelors degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics or related field with a strong quantitative orientation. Knowledge of advanced mathematics and statistical concepts, basic actuarial methods/concepts, insurance terminology and product familiarity.
Experience: Three years related experience in an actuarial and statistical support role. No actuarial exams required.
SKILLS: Demonstrated work product accuracy. Effective oral/written communication skills; Demonstrated ability to comprehend actuarial concepts and other advanced statistical concepts; Demonstrated ability to think logically and perform actuarial methods in a timely manner; Ability to operate personal computer and related actuarial and business software. Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
