Vehicle Description The Ford GT began life as a concept car designed in anticipation of Ford Motor Company's centennial year.
It is a mid-engine, two-seater sports car whose design was inspired by the GT40 racing cars of the 1960s.
Many new and unique technologies were used in the production of this car, including superplastic-formed frame, aluminum body panels, a ship-in-a-bottle gas tank, a capless fuel filler system and an aluminum engine cover with a one-piece carbon-fiber inner panel.
A Ricardo 6-speed manual transmission is mated to a mid-mounted 5.
4-liter modular V8 engine with a Lysholm twin screw-type supercharger and a forged rotating assembly housed in an aluminum block designed specifically for the GT program.
