1 of 28
Vehicle Description Developed under famed Corvette engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov, the first Z06 packaged offered enhanced handling and braking capability with an available, larger fuel tank that reduced the need for refueling during a race.
Power comes from a fuel-injected 327/360hp small-block V8 engine supported by a 4-speed manual transmission and posi-traction rear axle.
The original engine was replaced in the late 1960's with a service replacement engine from the Chevrolet dealer.
Then, an original 1963 Corvette solid lifter engine with correct casting number (2870) and the same casting date (Jan 1963) as the original engine would have had was found and installed.
The engine came from a 1963 Corvette that was built approximately 50 units prior to the build of this car.
The engine and transmission both have been rebuilt.
After the rebuild the engine was placed on a test stand and run in.
Engine was rebuilt to 1963 specifications with solid lifter camshaft, rebuilt fuel injection unit and the original GM air cleaner assembly.
The transmission is a correct BorgWarner T10 with a November 1962 date.
The car was built in February 1963 and delivered to Paramount Chevrolet in California the third week of February.
It's a two-owner vehicle with 13,006 actual miles (the title reads mileage exempt) and is equipped with the 20-gallon fuel tank along with new Firestone bias belted tires in the correct size of 6.
70x5.
The VIN and Trim Tags are original to the car and have never been removed.
This Corvette has been refurbished using as many of the original parts as possible to keep it as close to as delivered new in 1963.
It's finished in new correct Riverside Red paint over a black interior with new carpeting and recovered seats done in correct black vinyl.
The doors fit great, close nicely and sound like they should when closed.
This is a California car, so the frame and bird cage are in great condition.
Additionally, the wiper motor and radio have been rebuilt.
All of the original brake hardware is still in place as it was when it left the factory, including the dust shields on the back of the backing plates (both front and rear) that cover the screens.
They have never been removed.
The brake cooling fans are still in place with the original brake shoes, which have also never been replaced.
The brake booster has never been removed and still retains the factory installed rivets attaching it to the firewall.
It still retains the original coil springs and rear spring, as well as the factory original front sway bar.
Though this car has always been a street car and never raced it does qualify for vintage racing.
