Vehicle Description From November 1981 to May 1986, ABC-TV's The Fall Guy chronicled the rough-and-tumble adventures of Colt Seavers, a Hollywood stunt man and part-time bounty hunter portrayed by Lee Majors, who also sang the show's theme song.
While The Fall Guy featured an all-star cast, one prominent yet uncredited star of the show was Colt's customized GMC Sierra 4x4 pickup - actually a series of them, supplied by General Motors as the series continued its run.
Whether on- or off-road and usually shown flying high in the air for many jump sequences, Colt's pickup is as unforgettable as the General Lee Charger of Dukes of Hazzard fame to many young, car-crazy TV fans of the 1980s.
The Fall Guy also helped to heighten the massive popularity of General Motors' 1973-87 Rounded Line light-duty trucks later in their long production run, with Chevrolet- and GMC-branded examples sharing virtually everything except for their nameplates.
Starting life as a Chevrolet K10 4x4 but now GMC-branded like the TV vehicles, this exacting Fall Guy pickup re-creation was restored and modified during the 2010s by the Automotive and Collision Repair students at Indiana's Vincennes University.
The body is all GM sheet metal, featuring a customized cargo box, just like the Fall Guy TV trucks, including handy swing-out access doors at each side.
The TV truck's brown and gold two-tone livery was also faithfully replicated, using primer, sealer, base colors, and clear coat supplied by Martin Senour Paints.
Other upgrades include a brush guard, custom-made winch mount and WARN 8274 winch.
A rebuilt 350ci V-8 engine delivers power with a 4-barrel carburetor and dual exhaust mated to a rebuilt GM TH400 automatic transmission and rebuilt NP208 transfer case.
Both front and rear axles were rebuilt, comprising a 10-bolt front axle with 4.
10 gears and a 10.
5-inch 14-bolt rear unit with open differential and custom truss.
Other highlights include custom driveshafts and a 6-inch suspension lift.
Custom chrome spoked wheels by the Stockton Wheel Company and Dick Cepek Fun Country off-road tires provide rolling stock, including the cargo bed-mounted spare.
The interior was completely restored to factory appearance and a Cobra CB radio with an outside whip antenna provides a great 1970s/80s look.
A large selection of Fall Guy memorabilia accompanies the pickup, including cast autographs, toys, games, records, a show script and magazines.
Best of all, the pickup's glovebox door was autographed by none other than Lee Majors.
From the Flying Marlin Collection.
