For Sale at Auction: 1967 Chevrolet Corvette in Scottsdale, Arizona for sale in Scottsdale, AZ

1 of 9
Vehicle Description This 1967 Chevrolet Corvette 427/430 convertible was one of the final year for the second-generation C2 Corvette design.
Demand far exceeded supply and performance-minded buyers could purchase the L88 powerplant as a factory-available crate engine.
Benefiting from a long-term restoration performed under the prior owner, plus the past two decades of single-owner care, this 1967 Chevrolet Corvette convertible is an original big-block car, powered by a 1968 vintage L88 427ci engine mated to an M22 Rock Crusher 4-speed manual transmission.
It is finished in Lynndale Blue with a black hood Stinger and features a correct-side exhaust system, black vinyl auxiliary hardtop and Corvette Rally wheels.
This convertible celebrates the L88 option and comes to auction with a recent service and tuning.
Introduced for 1967, the L88 option caused equal amounts of excitement and confusion among potential Corvette buyers with Chevrolet actively discouraging orders from anyone but professional racers with established GM/Chevrolet relationships.
Designated as an off-road vehicle with 430hp and stiff pricing ($947 for 1967), the L88 appeared as less powerful and more than twice the option price of the readily available 435hp Tri-Power L71 unit.
Even the exotic aluminum-head RPO L89/L71 engine was less costly and seemingly easier to obtain; however, the L88 produced well over 500hp (an estimated 560hp) and its combined features rendered it virtually track-ready off the factory floor.
A choice between the GM/Muncie M22 Rock Crusher close-ratio 4-speed and heavy-duty Turbo Hydramatic 400 automatic transmissions was available with the L88, along with specific supporting items and a range of rear-axle ratios.
Air conditioning, power steering, power windows and a radio were not available.
Mandatory options for the vehicle included Regular Production Option J56 heavy-duty disc brake calipers, J50 power brakes, F41 high-performance suspension, K66 transistorized ignition and a G80 posi-traction rear-axle assembly.
For the inaugural 1967 model year, L88 Corvettes were also given the C48 heater delete option.
